Our story
We opened in 2013 with a unique vision: our goal is to introduce craft beer styles to our guests in their authentic, original form.
THE BEGINNINGS & TRANSPORTATION
Kovács “Olasz” József, the founder of the brewery, has long been a successful entrepreneur.
In the early 2000s, right up until the opening of the brewery, his company owned a fleet of nearly 40 trucks engaged in domestic and international freight transport.
One Saturday afternoon, while enjoying a beer, he thought to himself that he could make a delicious brew like this too. He sourced the necessary equipment and ingredients through various online platforms, and after brewing his first beer, he realized just how much better his own beer tasted.
FIGHT FOR LEGALIZATION
At the time, however, brewing beer at home was prohibited by law. As a “guerrilla brewer” — a term used for brewers who secretly made beer despite the legal restrictions — he continued brewing a few more batches while joining the fight with the authorities to legalize homebrewing. After several grueling months, their efforts finally succeeded, and homebrewing became legal.
DEPARTURE FROM SZLOVÁK ÚT
He became so passionate about brewing that he sold his successful transport company to establish his own brewery. He opened the brewery at 116 Szlovák út in Budapest’s 16th district, where the fermentation capacity was already 21,000 liters from the very beginning. In Budapest, at 116 Szlovák út, 16th district. opened under the title, where the fermentation capacity right from the start 21,000 liters volt.
From the moment we opened our brewery, we have been driven by a clear vision: to present craft beer styles in their authentic form, without compromise, and with a focus on purity and quality.
STONE ROSE STREET & EXPANSION
It became so successful that a few years later we opened a new facility, still in Budapest’s 16th district, at 8/C Kövirózsa Street, where we are based today. Here, our fermentation capacity is 37,000 liters. The move was driven not only by production capacity limits, but also by the opening of our own pálinka distillery and the need for a larger taproom.
Our new venue can accommodate up to 500 guests, offering plenty of room for entertainment. We provide a stage for performers who are too small for 3,000-capacity clubs, yet too big for intimate garage gigs.
Reaching new audiences (youth, university students)
Design refresh (new beer labels, new beers, even switching from bottled beer to canned beer) Acquiring resellers: The product should be available in more places, excluding supermarkets.
